Dimension Data Deploys 'High Availability' Data Center Solution for Emirates International Investment Company
The new state-of-the-art data center solution will help EIIC improve operational
efficiency, reduce the risks associated with IT disruption and minimise costs
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates: Dimension Data, a specialist IT
services and solutions provider, today announced that it has deployed an advanced data
center solution for Emirates International Investment Company (EIIC), part of the National
Holding, a leading Abu Dhabi-based private holding company. Dimension Data helped EIIC
implement a state-of-the-art 'high availability' mobile data center solution, which will help
the investment company improve operational efficiency, reduce the risks associated with IT
disruption and minimise costs and complexity. EIIC also signed a three year contract with
Dimension Data for onsite support and maintenance for the new data center equipment.
"EIIC was in the process of rolling out an ERP solution, upgrading a number of IT systems
and hardware, and implementing a disaster recovery strategy," explains Mr. Nader Atout,
Sales Director - Gulf Region at Dimension Data. "In order to accommodate these upgrades,
EIIC knew that it had to upgrade its data center environment as well as build a solid 'high
availability' system in a remote location. After conducting a workshop to determine the
specifications and requirements for the new data center, EIIC realised that it would not be
able perform the upgrade due to the limited amount of space and power available in its new
office environment."
Dimension Data presented EIIC with the features of its cutting-edge mobile data center
solution. EIIC, after a thorough evaluation and market research, adopted the proposed
solution and contracted Dimension Data for the supply of 2 mobile data centers for their
remote site.
"EIIC studied solutions offered by different vendors and found our solution was clearly the
most suited for their requirements. Not only were we able to meet EIIC's tight deadline but
we were also able to offer them the most cost-effective solution available in the market
today in that categoy," adds Mr. Rami Al Naghi, Regional Sales Manager- Abu Dhabi at
Dimension Data.
"Dimension Data welcomed our input and assured us that they understood our
requirements. The deployment of the mobile data centres is to take place within the desired
timeframe. Dimension Data were professional and we have signed a support and
maintenance agreement for the next three years," says Mr. Muhannad Abu-Hassan, CIO,
EIIC .
Dimension Data, which launched its Data Center Infrastructure business and 'Managed
Services' business in the UAE in October 2008, offers clients a single point of contact for the
