The group has strategic, active and financial investments across a wide range of asset classes:

Strategic Investments

EIIC is a major shareholder of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) and is actively involved in the bank's strategy and management. The group has worked in conjunction with ADIB to acquire a majority stake of National Bank for Development in Egypt, an acquisition that has granted the group both an Islamic and a regular banking license.

Long-term strategic investments in regional and global companies include Vivendi, and other regional institutions.

Private Equity

The group manages direct investments, co-investments and investments in private equity funds, with a focus on industrials & utilities, financial services, energy commodities and real estate. EIIC's private equity portfolio companies and investments are pre-dominantly located in the MENA region, but a part of the group's capital has been allocated to investments in Africa, Europe, the U.S. and South East Asia. The group also seeded a MENA private equity fund to cover investments in the region.

Capital Markets

The group invests in the UAE, the MENA region and in international capital markets. It is considered a significant equities trader on the Abu Dhabi Securities Market and the Dubai Financial Market.

Alternative Investments

The group is an active player in the hedge fund industry through a number of diversified investments in such an asset class.
