Carlos Wakim
Chief Executive Officer
Carlos Wakim is the Chief Executive Officer of Bloom Holding, Chairman of the Executive Committee for Bloom Education, and Chairman of the Board of Governors of Brighton College UAE schools. He leads operations across all Bloom Holding companies, including Real Estate (Bloom Properties), Education Investments, Hospitality (Bloom Hospitality), Facilities Management (bfm), and Landscaping services (Bloom Landscape).
Carlos Wakim has over 25 years of leadership experience in some of the region’s leading real-estate companies, where he has contributed to their success and expansion. Through Mr. Wakim’s considerable industry experience, he adds value to Bloom Holding by leading the delivery of the company’s strategic mandate to expand its portfolio in the UAE and internationally.
Since joining Bloom Holding in September 2021, Carlos Wakim has led a number of achievements which include the successful launch of the fully integrated and all-inclusive community, Bloom Living. Mr. Wakim has also inked a deal with Rotana to manage Bloom Arjaan by Rotana, and a deal with New Era Education that has led to the launch of an international school in Cairo Egypt. He has also joined forces with LEAD Development and Mabel Capital to co-develop a luxury residential project in Spain. He played a key role in achieving the completion and handover of the Aldhay project and the first phase of Bloom Living ahead of schedule.
He joined Bloom Holding from AMAALA, a Public Investment Fund initiative in Saudi Arabia, where he held the position of Chief Development Officer overseeing its entire project portfolio. Mr. Wakim has also held a number of senior leadership roles in the real estate industry such as TDIC, Emaar and Zabeel Properties.
Nilay Özral
Chief Executive Officer of Bloom Education
Nilay Özral joined Bloom Education in January 2019 as the Chief Executive Officer. Nilay is responsible for the development of Bloom Education’s international schools and nursery portfolio, which includes Brighton College from the UK, Dwight School from New York, and the Singaporean nursery brand, MindChamps. She is also responsible for the management and operations of the Charter schools awarded to Bloom Education by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Education.
Prior to joining Bloom Education, Nilay was the CEO of Aldar Academies from 2014, where she was responsible for developing their educational portfolio from 1,200 students to over 16,000 students during her eight year tenure. In addition to overseeing Aldar Academies, during 2010 – 2013, Nilay successfully managed a number of Aldar’s major assets, including the final delivery and operations of the seven hotels on Yas Island, Yas and Al Bandar Marinas, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Links Golf Club. Before that, she was the Strategic Planning Director at Sorouh.
Nilay has 29 years of strategic management and leadership experience in some of the world’s leading multinational companies.
Nilay holds an MBA from Manchester Business School and The University of Texas at Austin.
Giovanni Carpenzano
General Counsel
Giovanni Carpenzano is an attorney and investment professional with over 20 years of strategy and management experience in corporate finance, M&A, private equity, banking and finance, Islamic finance and turnaround management.
Before his General Counsel role at Bloom Holding, Giovanni worked for Dubai Economic Council as an Investment Director. He also worked for Zabeel Investments where he ran the legal department and advised the board of directors on the restructuring of the holding company.
Within the region, Giovanni has also led the legal department of Turkcapital (a subsidiary of Kuwait Finance House), and assisted the business development teams of Turkapital in Kuwait, Turkey, Russia and Azerbaijan.
Prior to this, he had the position of Senior Legal Counsel for Agility in Kuwait, where he had extensive exposure to international corporate and commercial transactions across Europe, North America and the Middle East.
Giovanni started off his professional career working for Allen & Overy in Italy and General Electric in Paris, Vienna and Munich as Legal Counsel, where he advised on major M&A transactions and restructurings.
Mehmet Even
Chief Development Officer
Mehmet Even is the Chief Development Officer at Bloom Holding, where he is responsible for strategizing and overseeing all development activities, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Mehmet plays a key role in driving the progression of large community master plans and innovative mixed-use projects as well as managing their budgets.
Prior to joining Bloom Holding, Mehmet worked for Amaala by Red Sea Global, where he was responsible for the development and operation of various mega projects with a value reaching USD 25 billion. Prior to that, he held top positions at Rixos (Accor) / Hab Development company establishing internationally mixed used projects like The Land of Legends and Tersane Istanbul and Zorlu Center Project with a value over USD 20 billion.
Mehmet has 35 years of experience in real estate investment, development and operation, and has worked with several international organizations to develop multi-functional large-scale projects worldwide.
Mehmet graduated from Vienna Technical University as an Architect and Urban Planner. He also holds three post graduate diplomas/Master’s degree in Planning and Architecture, Financial Business Administration, and Real Estate Development.
Craig Dennis Lamshed
General Manager of Brighton Colleges
Craig has more than 30 years’ experience in the education sector, with more than 25 years as an educational leader across a variety of curriculum and settings, including Australian, International Baccalaureate, American, and UK curriculum schools across Australia, Africa, Egypt, Malaysia, Qatar and the UAE. His experience spans both government and private sectors, including leading programs to improve both education and business standards.
Prior to joining Bloom Education in 2022, he has held other senior roles including Country Director and Director of Education within the Middle East Region. Craig has extensive experience in all areas of education, including student learning, curriculum development, principal and teacher performance, pedagogy, HR, finance, facilities, school review, policies and procedures, marketing, community engagement and strategic planning.
He has a Masters of School Leadership (Education), Graduate Diploma in Education, and Bachelor of Applied Science from Monash University, Victoria, Australia. In addition, he has completed a strategic leadership course from Said Business School, University of Oxford.
