Najib Makarem
Group Chief Human Resources Officer
Najib Makarem leads the overall Human Resource strategy at the Group. He leverages his wealth of experience in consulting,strategic relationship building and people management to foster the group’s organisational culture, while building on workforce potential and workplace resilience.
Najib brings over 25 years of experience in the Human Resources field overseeing all core HR functions with a focus on driving business results for the Group across its businesses, geographies and organisational levels. By collaborating with the Group Leadership Team as well as stakeholders across the Group businesses, Najib consults on organisational design, leadership assessment and development, team performance management, rewards strategies, manpower planning and rationalisation. While developing employee-focused strategies, he works towards aligning people with business goals to deliver tangible results.
Najib is also a seasoned planner, equipped to support HR requirements for large organizational projects and initiatives, from defining scope and requirements and analysis to financial forecasting and quality reviews. With National Holding businesses growing into new geographies, forging new partnerships and breaking ground on new projects, Najib implements change management strategies while recruiting and hiring personnel to fulfil business objectives effectively. He also formulates employee-focussed policies to develop and retain existing talent within National Holding, including succession planning, management and development of organisational competency, particularly for high potential employees. Najib is also responsible for implementing compensation and benefits plans, aiming to support employee performance across the organization.
Najib held various executive positions over the last two decades. Most recently, he served as Group Human Capital Officer at BEEAH. Previously Senior Partner & Market Leader – Advisory Services at Korn Ferry Advisory. He also held senior positions at Willis Towers Watson, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young, and Arthur Anderson.
